Residents of Bhandarwada, part of Marol Gaothan, Andheri (East), received notices from BMC and Slum Rehabilitation Authority requesting documents including electoral roll extracts, electricity bills, property tax bills, and society registration certificates.

Residents objected, noting Marol Gaothan is officially notified and demarcated as a gaothan in Mumbai's sanctioned Development Plan 2034. Marol Gaothan is listed as serial number 193, a heritage precinct in the same plan, featuring Indo-Portuguese villa architecture.

Lawyer Godfrey Pimenta (Watchdog Foundation trustee) stated revenue authorities have delineated Marol Gaothan boundaries encompassing Bhandarwada, and classifying homes as slums contradicts preservation principles and threatens the cultural and architectural legacy of this historic East Indian community settlement.

Residents lodged objections in letters to BMC, SRA, and Maharashtra Chief Minister, demanding immediate withdrawal of notices and formal acknowledgment of Marol Gaothan's heritage status.

Hundreds of Maharashtra police recruitment aspirants crowded Marol’s narrow internal roads during physical tests, with hawkers adding to congestion. BMC infrastructure works have partially dug up several roads, creating bottlenecks during peak hours.

The road from Bhawani Nagar to the Marol Naka Metro Line 3 station was shut, leaving one side open and forcing commuters onto a longer route. Choke points included Marol–Maroshi Road, Vijay Nagar bridge, Bhawani Nagar, Seven Hills and Maphkan Nagar. • The Mumbai Traffic Police closed the stretch from Lok Bharati Junction on Marol Maroshi Road to Marol Naka until May 31 for concretisation, repairs and drain construction. Vehicles can turn left at Lok Bharati Junction and right onto Makhwana Road to reach Marol Naka.
• Jagannath Bhatankar Road is closed to vehicles from February 14 until May 2026 for pole construction for the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector Bridge. Vehicles travelling southbound on Senapati Bapat Marg towards Bhatankar Marg should use Senapati Bapat Marg, Wadacha Naka, N.M. Joshi Marg and Dhanmill Naka, without turning right at Elphinstone Junction.

Residents of K East ward will face water supply disruptions on December 23 until 4pm due to diversion work of a 2,400 mm Upper Vaitarna water pipeline required for Metro Line 7A construction at Bamanwada and Vile Parle East. The project could not be completed on schedule due to technical reasons. Water supply from Powai High Reservoir-I (PHLR-I) will also remain suspended during this period. Areas likely affected: Om Nagar, Kanti Nagar, Sahar Village, parts of MIDC Andheri East, Bamanwada, Airport Colony, Chakala, JB Nagar, Marol Industrial Area, and surrounding localities. BMC advised citizens to store sufficient water in advance.
