White Town is the French Side of the Pondicherry Town. The governor's bungalow, the public library museum and Bharati park (A green park with a jogging track) are the main highlights of the White Town. This part makes you feel that you are in French country side. Auroville Ashram and the Promenade beach add to the glory of the White town. Authentic Continental food is available. Mouthwatering desserts and ice cream parlors are not uncommon here. The 6 century old Ganesh temple and the church of Immaculate Mary are must visits for pilgrims. If anyone has watched Life of Pi Movie thats all Pondicherry.... Another movie you may have seen - Talaash - AAMIR KHAN starrer - the first and the last scene was shot in Pondicherry promenade - trust me - I stood there and saw the shooting...

Pros:
  • Clean area with well maintained roads and drainage system
  • Schools, Hospitals, Banks, ATM, Continental Restaurants
  • Looks like French country side
  • Several tourist attractions
Cons:
  • Expensive (obviously you need to pay for quality)
  • Roads are not wide
  • Autos are expensive and will charge a bomb
