Just for Thrill!
We had heard about the Paragliding experience in Bir-Billing at Himachal Pradesh. Since we were visiting the state in Oct 2019, we decided to give it a try. We got in touch with a group called Parabilling through a colleague and our experience was wholly out of the World. We reached Bir village by taxi and our pilot Mr Chamel Thakur, met us right next to the landing ground with all equipments and his colleague ready to take us to the launching zone at Billing 7000 ft high in their own car driven by an able hill driver. After giving us the instructions and strapping us to the paraglider, both our pilots waited for a good wind flow from the front, which was good. Because we saw many pilots taking off with even light winds. The run and glide into the air was a sudden rush of adrenalin and then the complete flight of around 18 minutes was like a dream. We floated over mountains, terrace farms, houses on hill slope and in between our pilot did some aerobatics to increase the fun! All the while the camera in our hand was rolling till we touched ground at Bir again. The sheer magic of the flight will stay with us forever. The only negative in the experience was the rush of tourists at the launch and landing area who had to be warned off while we were touching down!
