Medavakkam is a good and peaceful location. Very near to Solinganallu, Velachery, Tambaram etc.

Many schools are located in Medavakkam such as St John Public School, Bharathi Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School, Vidhya Mandir MAT HR Sec School etc.
Some of the well-known colleges situated in this locality include Prince Shri Venkateshwara Padmavathy Engg College, Swathi College of Arts and Science and Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science.
