The GDA vice president went on to add that Rs 110 crore would be used for linking Delhi and Meerut city and for this pipeline road near Tila Mor at the Hindon river will be widened. He said that there were plans to address the over congestion on the Ghaziabad roads while travelling from Delhi to Ghaziabad and vise versa. "We are finalising the terms and conditions for the DPR. Once it is finalised, it would take not more than one and half years to complete the projects mentioned above," said Yadav of GDA.

Stressing on the Metro link requirements in Ghaziabad, Yadav further said, "(So far) Three metro projects have been proposed in Ghaziabad. They are extensions of Dilshad Garden to Ghaziabad bus station, Noida Sector 62 extension to Indirapuram extending up to Vaishali. And the third would be extension of Yamuna Vihar metro link up to Loni."

The Dilshad Garden extension up to Ghaziabad bus station has already been approved in the UP Assembly and Rs 1,600 would be required for this metro project. In this Rs 1,600 crore, Rs 1,000 crore would be funded by GDA, Residential Development Council, District Council and UP Industrial Development Council.

Noor Mohammad, former member of the NCR Planning Board, termed these announcements as necessities for the residents of Ghaziabad. The former member of the NCR Planning Board said, "Delhi is getting over populated while a large part of Ghaziabd city is still underutilised."

However, Mohammad was sceptical about the raising of such a huge fund by the GDA. "Raising such a huge fund would be a major problem for the GDA. So, they should go for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and avoid such crisis and ensure the timely completion of the announced projects."

Hailing the decision taken by GDA, Nikhil Jain, CEO, Ramprastha Promoters and Developers said, "The GDA's decision is a welcome move in right direction because for the first time they have addressed the Loni region in Ghaziabad by the announcement of metro link by extending the Yamuna Vihar metro link." The Ramprastha group CEO elaborated that Loni has huge potential for growth as the region is one of the major areas in the city which is underutilised.

"Loni is an area which is around 15 kms away from the New Delhi railway station and is equidistant from the ISBT and Anand Vihar bus station. Hope, there would be some more announcement coming in for Loni because the GDA has ample land in this region of the city," added Jain.
