Hartola is situated at 50 km from Nainital city. It is an apple orchard area having snowfall three or four times every winter. It faces Almora and Ranikhet with a beautiful view of a wide range of the Himalayas in between. It is inhabited by locals and people from big cities who have built their cottages to seek calm and stress free life far from the mad rush of big city life. In the last ten years land prices have seen a steady jump of 600% in this area.
